MOOI NIET. content system#

A provisional edition-led system for authorship, evidence, timing, and release

The presentation layer should not flatten artist account, gallery interpretation, factual record, and audience contribution into one confident institutional voice. This system keeps those materials legible while allowing them to be composed differently for each edition.

Edition first#

For the future presentation of artists and works, the edition is the primary public and editorial container. It is not a theme placed over a reusable set of work pages. It composes selected works, artists, rules, duration, circulation, visual identity, mechanisms, release, and afterlife into one authored proposition.

The current public corpus sits one level above this system. It records what the project believes, what remains provisional, and what is still unanswered; it does not pretend to be an edition before real work and permissions exist.

MOOI NIET. provides a thin, durable shell. Distinct authorship, declared payment, care, privacy, known terms, and the refusal of popularity-based allocation do not change between editions. The allocation of permissions, release, persistence, recall, and afterlife may change when the work requires it, alongside navigation, image behavior, timing, contribution, technology, and presentation.

A collection holds the curatorial relation among artists, works, questions, and refusals. An edition is the bounded public and operational form through which that collection is presented and circulated. It emphasizes the complete form without implying an artificially scarce or numbered product drop.

The full structure is in the edition system.

Content roles#

Artist account#

What the artist chooses to share about practice, work, material, process, or intention.

Why MOOI NIET. selected, commissioned, placed, or related the work.

Factual record#

What materially happened.

Host contribution#

A bounded contribution invited by a particular collection.

Generated observation#

Material produced with computational assistance.

Minimum metadata#

Every content unit should be able to answer:

The public surface may not expose every field, but the system should know them before material is released.

Human and agent discovery#

People and software agents are both audiences for the public corpus. They should receive the same underlying account rather than separate persuasive and machine-facing versions.

Stable routes, semantic headings, explicit authorship and status, source links, cross-references, and a machine-readable document index should make discovery straightforward for both. Structured access may help retrieve and compare material; it must not infer artist intention, produce a fit score, rank work, or convert the taste record into an automated selection model.

Public forms#

Proposition#

An edition or gallery statement in ordinary language. It says what conditions are being created without pretending to exhaust the work.

Work encounter#

The work, attribution, dimensions, material, and only the context needed at that moment. Its presentation belongs to its appearance within an edition rather than to one immutable product template.

Artist account#

A bounded selection from artist-approved material. It is not a standardized biography, CV, or recurring content feed.

A concise curatorial decision, relation, refusal, or revision.

Stay record#

A privacy-safe factual record of stewardship, placement, duration, movement, and care. A host response is not required.

Money record#

An ordinary-language account of where money goes and what gallery labor it funds. It records an authored economic decision; it is not a moral badge, charity claim, purity signal, impact report, or piece of social proof.

Edition score#

The known container for duration, rotation, secrecy, contribution, permissions, audience, mechanism, and reveal.

Taste package#

A bounded, structured lens on judgment related to a particular work or collection: philosophy, constraints, behavior, examples, refusals, and revisions. It may be artist-authored, gallery-authored, or a declared composition. It can be rendered for people and made available to software agents, but it is not a correct interpretation, viewer profile, fit score, or automated selection model.

Offer record#

The direct transactional account of a work available through the separate WORKS/STORE surface: work, artist, image, material, dimensions, availability, price or purchase terms, and any continuing stewardship relation. It contains no urgency, popularity, taste matching, or prestige claims.

Evidence note#

A sourced explanation of a structural claim. Evidence belongs close enough to the claim to make it inspectable, but the opening surface need not become an academic paper.

Secret fragment#

A bounded piece of content whose existence, timing, carrier, or audience may be unannounced. It can be latent, delayed, relayed, distributed, assigned by chance, perishable, contradictory, or unresolved. It never contains information needed for consent, payment, care, privacy, purchase, or rights.

A secret retains the same authorship, permission, audience, release, and persistence discipline as visible content. Its additional conditions are declared in the edition's secret score.

Timing#

Content may be:

Timing is an edition decision, not a generalized engagement schedule.

Voice by role#

The MOOI NIET. public voice may frame the surface. It should not recolor every role into the same snark.

Language and translation#

English is the default for gallery-authored interface and editorial language. A Dutch intervention is admitted only when it adds meaning or wordplay that an English equivalent would lose. The working ceiling is one Dutch intervention per page, excluding the name, proper nouns, artist-authored material, and separate translations. This is a maximum rather than a content requirement.

Artist-authored language remains in its offered language and register. MOOI NIET. may commission an English translation for access, but the translation remains a parallel, credited content unit rather than silently replacing or normalizing the source. Necessary information about money, permission, custody, care, and rights must remain directly understandable; wordplay cannot carry an operational obligation.

See the language system for the full admission test.

Structural evidence#

The public argument should distinguish:

The strongest sequence is often:

structural claim
    -> evidence or grounded example
    -> MOOI NIET. allocation rule
    -> visible material record

This prevents “anti-system” language from becoming an unsupported brand posture.

Refusals#
